Old London Bridge was an inhabited bridge and the ideas competition asks today’s designers to imagine a new version of the inhabited bridge to mark the 800th anniversary of the opening of the first London Bridge in 1209AD.

This year’s competition is for a new type of community gathering place that should be neither a conventional community center of the type commissioned by local governments, nor a completely informal space of the type that appears spontaneously.
